Required CE Courses for Texas Pharmacists
- 1 hour of Texas Pharmacy Laws/Rules
- 2 hours of Prescribing and Monitoring Controlled Substances (initial renewal only)
- 1 hour of Mental Health Awareness and Substance Use Training
- 1 course in Human Trafficking Prevention (must be approved by Texas HHSC) (might not count toward CE requirements)

If you are a new Pharmacist:
You are exempt from reporting CE credit/courses during the 30-day renewal period following initial licensure.
If you are renewing after your first 30-day renewal, what are your continuing education requirements?
You will need to fulfill certain CE requirements. While pharmacists are exempt from most CE requirements during the initial renewal period according to Board rule 295.8(d)(4)(A), you must complete the following:
- A minimum of two hours of CE on prescribing and monitoring controlled substances within the first year of licensure.
- At least one human trafficking prevention training course approved by the Texas HHSC.
