Course Description

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a preventable and treatable public health challenge that is now one of the top three causes of death worldwide. COPD is characterized by chronic respiratory symptoms, which cause airflow obstruction that is persistent and often progressive. The appropriate and early diagnosis of COPD can help guide treatment and increase the quality of life in those with COPD. Pharmacotherapy reduces symptoms, frequency, and severity of COPD exacerbations. Fortunately, several treatment options are available for COPD, and treatment regimens should be individualized for each patient.
