Course Summary

Measles is a highly contagious, potentially fatal viral infection. It is preventable through vaccination, and as a result of vaccination, measles was declared eliminated in the USA in 2000. However, vaccination rates decreased after 2017, and in April 2024, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a nationwide alert. Pharmacists and pharmacy staff are on the front lines regarding measles vaccinations. They should be prepared to address vaccine hesitancy in patients to help increase measles vaccination rates and return the US to the situation when measles was eliminated.
