From the Board: "The Board doesn’t currently require CE for TCH renewals. Regulation only requires CE for the renewal of pharmacist (RPH) and advanced practice pharmacist (APH) licenses. If you hold a CPhT certificate, you should contact the issuing organization (PTCB or NHA) regarding their recertification requirements."
Beginning with renewals on and after January 1, 2024, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians are required at least 1 hour of participation every two years in a cultural competency course. This CE renewal requirement applies to all pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and advance practice pharmacists whose expiration date is after December 31, 2023.
There are no further requirements from the state of California. However, certified pharmacy technicians must complete the requirements associated with their certifying body. If you are a Certified Pharmacy Technician, please refer to your certifying body, which is either the PTCB or the NHA, for their continuing education requirements for your pharmacy technician license.
