Course Summary
Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is among the most prevalent hospital-acquired infections. It continues to pose significant challenges in healthcare settings, with subsequent increases in morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Pharmacy teams play pivotal roles in CDI management through the application of antimicrobial stewardship and infection control, as well as the provision of patient and caregiver education. This continuing education activity aims to provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with comprehensive knowledge and practical strategies for effectively managing CDI. The pathophysiology and epidemiology of CDI will be reviewed, and detailed diagnostic, prevention, and management strategies will be discussed in depth.
